Our Story: Where it All Began
It Started With My Own Destination Wedding!
As the owner of Florida Weddings, I am extremely passionate about providing destination weddings that are the experience of a lifetime while also being affordable. My passion comes from the fact that I also had a destination wedding. And with over 20 years of experience in project management as well as managing strategic initiatives, running Florida Weddings is a dream come true.
The Long-Awaited Proposal
More than 20 years ago, my husband finally got down on one knee and proposed to me at a fancy hotel in New York City. After waiting patiently for seven years, I was ecstatic. One of my best friends gifted me a stack of bridal magazines, and I eagerly delved into them. I thought I was all ready to start wedding planning.
Overwhelmed by the Wedding Chaos
But as I flipped through the magazines, panic soon washed over me. Wedding napkins? Who knew that selecting napkins could be such a big deal? I remember having a full-blown panic attack right then and there. The whole wedding planning process seemed daunting, especially while juggling a stressful full-time job. And let’s not even get started on the exorbitant costs.
Choosing Simplicity
In the midst of the chaos, my then-fiancé and I decided to forgo an extravagant wedding and instead opted to elope. We chose Australia as our destination. Back when Google was still fairly new, I stumbled upon a random destination wedding website online that promised to handle all the details for us. We took a leap of faith that everything would turn out well. And thankfully, it did.
Our Dream Destination Wedding
A few months later, we arrived in Sydney and tied the knot the very next day. Our ceremony was overlooking the iconic Sydney Opera House in Sydney Harbor. A local officiant married us, and a photographer captured the precious moments. They even provided us with a wedding cake, and to our not so pleasant surprise it was a fruit cake, ha. Nevertheless, we celebrated our special day with drinks, dinner, and a night on the town, still dressed in our wedding attire. Our dream destination wedding truly was the best night of our lives.
No Regrets, Only Joy
Although my mom might never fully recover from our decision, we still firmly believe it was the best choice we ever made. Looking back, we treasure the memories and the simplicity of our unique wedding experience. P.S. It’s worth mentioning that we had always vowed to name our daughter Sydney after the city that holds such significance in our lives. In 2007, we were blessed with a set of triplets consisting of two boys and a girl, and we fulfilled our promise by naming our first daughter Sydney. And six years later, we received another surprise when my youngest daughter came into our lives, bringing our family total to four children. They love looking at our wedding photos and sharing in the joy of that special day.

Having spent over 30 years in Florida, I wholeheartedly believe it is the best place on earth. And I personally believe that the Space Coast stands out as the ultimate destination. The Space Coast made up of Brevard County is located on the East Coast of Central Florida. It is Orlando’s closest beach, only a 45-minute drive . There are countless beautiful beaches and wonderful wedding locations throughout the Space Coast. In addition, the people on the Space Coast may be the nicest, down to earth people there are in Florida.

The Space Coast / Brevard County is home to renowned establishments such as NASA and Port Canaveral. One of our most beloved beaches in the area is Cocoa Beach, offering a vibrant atmosphere and breathtaking views. Additionally, there are hidden gems like Satellite Beach, which provide a quieter and more serene setting for couples seeking intimacy on their special day. Over the years, the Space Coast has thrived as a popular tourism destination, attracting visitors from around the world.
